Job Description

A leader in automating intelligent industrial operations.

At Canvass Analytics, we are disrupting the way industrial operational data is being used to make critical business decisions. Our disruptive, leading edge AI-powered analytics platform transforms plant operations, giving them predictive insights that enable autonomous operations.

In mere days, the Canvass AI software platform can enable Fortune 1,500 industrial companies to automate complex production processes, improve quality, reduce energy consumption, generate new revenue streams and create new markets by producing higher grade products. Canvass Analytics’ customers include leading energy, manufacturing, food and ag, oil and gas, and metals and mining companies around the globe.

We’re an agile scale-up with the operational intelligence of a global business. Our business is founded by a team of seasoned revolutionaries who are building the next generation of AI-powered analytics to transform the Industrial industry. As we accelerate rapidly, we are constantly looking for driven and ambitious innovators to join our team.

Who we need

To stay ahead of the curve and continue to scale rapidly, Canvass Analytics is adding a Team Lead, Software Development to the team. We are looking for a senior developer, a strong mentor and a lifelong learner, who is open to new concepts. We want someone with the knowledge to introduce ideas and the development experience to make those ideas a reality. Reporting to the CTO, who believes in failing fast but fixing it faster, our Team Lead will work on solving exciting industry problems such as Ingestions of Streaming IIoT Data, Big Data Storage and Processing, Automating ML and AI Pipelines, Real-Time Process Predictions and more. This is an opportunity for a passionate hands-on coder and leader of people to help us design and code our Microservice-based platform. As the new Team Lead, you will:

  • Actively contribute to Edge Analytics architectural planning and design.
  • Plan the execution of our roadmap initiatives and lead the team doing this.
  • Evaluate and implement the use of new technologies.
  • Lead the scrum team, removing roadblocks and accelerating the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with other teams such as the Machine Learning Engineers to find innovative solutions to challenges such as making the switch to distributed compute clusters.
  • Create CI/CD Pipelines and deploy our latest features.
  • Write Architecture, Design and API Documentation.
  • Solve problems that baffle others such as how to create a service capable of capturing large volumes of streaming data while providing low-latency retrieval that can be deployed both in the cloud and at the edge.

Who you are

You are a Software Engineer at a startup where you’ve reached your growth potential and you are looking for your next challenge. You want a step up into both a people leadership and an architect role, while still being an active part of a Development Team that is using Python and Microservices to change the face of the industrial world.

What’s in it for you

You want to join a company that’s at the forefront of AI technology and you want the autonomy to make architecture decisions, try new things and deliver results. You are looking for new technical challenges and you want to leverage cloud technology to solve unique problems. You are fascinated by the chance to use Edge Analytics in the IIOT space and to present our technology in compelling ways at local Meetups.

Our new Team Lead has:

  • The education. You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; ideally, you have a Masters degree.
  • The experience. You have 10 years hands on development expertise and come with a set of broad and deep tools including Python, cloud services and the ability to deploy commercial systems. You have practical experience scaling products and you may be familiar with using Docker for containerization (or you can quickly learn how).
  • The Agile leadership. You are a Scrum Master or you have stepped into that role in the past. You know when to take the lead and when to step back and listen. You know how to inspire the work of a team; introducing best practices that result in high-quality, clean and scalable code.
  • The communications skills. You know how to listen and how to be heard. You are able to translate both user requirements and technical details clearly across the team.
  • The innovation. You are a problem-solver who can balance urgency with long-term payoff. You are on a continuous search for new tools and improvements.
