Full-Time Software Engineer (Backend)

NOTE: This job listing has expired and may no longer be relevant!

Job Description

We want to connect millions of people with their favorite songs and create a service that people love to use. We believe music should be easily accessible and that listening to music will make people live richer lives. We want to create a win-win situation for people who love listening to music and people who love creating music. We’re always looking for outstanding software engineers who speak programming languages fluently and who can appreciate the beauty in well written code.
Working from our brand new New York office, you’ll be part of a small and rapidly growing team. You’ll spend your days making the Spotify client application even better, whether it’s implementing new features, improving performance or making sure that the user interface is top-notch.
At Spotify, we’re passionate about what we do. We look for folks who are strong minded and have clear vision while also doing whatever it takes to get the job done. You should have an insatiable hunger for learning new things and improving existing ones. If you’re the right one for us, you pay attention to details and take great pride in your work.
A degree in computer science or similar is a plus, but not required. Since Spotify is built mostly in Python and C++, experience with these or similar languages and frameworks are an advantage, but it doesn’t have to be professional experience. If you’re the one we’re looking for, you probably have a couple of hobby projects that you want to show us anyway.
People who meet us tend to comment on our energy, and the passion we have for what we’re doing. We hope it’s infectious! At such a fast moving start up you’ll find opportunities rather than boundaries in every single role.
