Job Description

Position: Lead developer

We’re looking for an experienced developer to join and help manage our fast-growing team in London.

About us

Beauhurst is the UK’s leading provider of deep data on growing companies. That means we know more or less everything you can know about the most exciting firms in the UK. That’s valuable information – which is why we’re growing fast.

The Role

At our heart we’re a data company. But data in a raw form isn’t useful to our hundreds of paying clients. They use our web platform because it provides them with answers to questions and actionable insights. The challenge faced by our development team is building a product that takes our data and delivers these for them.

Even though we’ve been around for four years and have hundreds of clients we’ve barely scratched the surface of what we want to achieve. We’ve got an enormous list of feature ideas and requests, from the small and simple to the über-complicated. You’ll take a leading role in taking them from paper to product.

You’ll combine getting your hands dirty with development with some managerial skill – liaising with the research and product teams and project managing what you’re working on. You’ll still be a techie at heart but you’ll understand and account for the business implications of your and your team’s work. You’ll make an impact fast.

We’re a small company and have a flat structure that encourages cooperation and communication. As well as our development team, you will work alongside the CEO and our other employees and will no doubt get involved in other activities outside your role from time to time.

Your skills

Through 4+ years of previous employment you’ll have demonstrated your skills with:

• Python

• Django

• JavaScript

It would certainly help if you’ve also worked with the following:

• Postgres

• Linux

• Mercurial

• Underscore.js

• Big data manipulation and processing

• Natural language processing

And last but by no means least, you should:

• Have demonstrated your ability to plan, monitor and deliver development projects

• Have shown you can manage and motivate a team

• Be genuinely be interested in using your development and managerial skills to create a seriously good product for paying customers

• Be eager to contribute your skills and ideas to a small, fast-growing company

A salary commensurate to your experience and enthusiasm. 30 days holiday.

This is a permanent position that commences ASAP. You will work full-time at our London office (nearest tube: Pimlico).

How to Apply

Your CV and covering letter should be submitted using the form at http://about.beauhurst.com/lead-developer. We’d love to see links to websites you’ve worked on, examples of projects you’ve contributed to, details of your GitHub / Bitbucket profile etc..

Note that applicants that submit generic covering letters will be automatically rejected.
