Job Description

Location: Brixton, London

Want to use your development skills to help the world understand the UK’s fastest-growing companies? To work with a smart, welcoming team of developers to build a fascinating product and accelerate your own learning?

About you

If you’re looking to kick-start your full-stack development career or to build on existing experience at an exciting, high-growth company then we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll be familiar with Python, front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3) and relational databases, and be looking for:

  • A challenging set of technical problems to tackle from day one
  • An exciting product with a genuine USP and enormous potential
  • Clear career and skill development direction
  • Great team workflow and range of expertise to learn from – working closely with experienced full-stack and front-end Developers and an in-house UX designer
  • A fun and friendly work environment, where your opinions are genuinely valued

You don’t necessarily need commercial experience – perhaps you’ve worked with these technologies during your studies, or done a lot in your free time.

Of course, any you do have is a plus and we’re equally interested in someone with some commercial experience who’s looking for a phenomenal learning opportunity.

About us

At Beauhurst, we’re building the essential tool for discovering and understanding the UK’s most ambitious companies.

Our SaaS platform lets users search a huge database of high-growth companies and the ecosystems around them. It’s an invaluable window into the world of startups, scale-ups, funds, accelerators and beyond.

Our subscribers depend on the platform for a wide variety of use cases, from business development, investment, partnership-building and recruitment, to understanding sectoral or large-scale trends amongst high-growth companies.

We already have a wide range of users at organisations like Deloitte, Reuters, London Stock Exchange Group, and KPMG – through to small startups themselves. We want to let more and more users access our data, in ever more valuable ways.

The role

In our tech team, you’ll be encouraged to build up your full-stack skills, while working on key, high-profile projects:

  • Helping to implement Vue.js while improving our user experience and making the product more responsive
  • Improving how people use the platform to find information – for instance, improving our platform’s core search interface
  • Building brand new, valuable and visually pleasing ways to explore and analyse the world of high-growth companies
  • Improving our latest major feature, which allows users to explore the people associated with high-growth companies (founders, funders, investors etc) and map their networks
  • Scaling our infrastructure to cope with the increasing complexity of our data and product features
  • Designing solutions to a wide range of problems and ideas from people across the company

As our product gets more sophisticated, we aim to develop our diverse skill sets, learn from each other and support each other to solve increasingly challenging problems. We’d love you to be part of that journey.

Skills & experience

To do a great job, you’ll need to be familiar with:

  • Python
  • JavaScript
  • HTML5 & CSS3
  • Relational databases

Bonus points for experience with:

  • Our tech stack: Django,  Vue.js, PostgreSQL, Celery, Linux, Docker, Mercurial
  • Other relevant technologies: web frameworks, source control tools, front-end frameworks

Don’t let it put you off if you haven’t worked with the latter – we’re more than happy for you to learn on the job.

Our offer

Salary: £25k – £30k

As well as that, we’re delighted to offer:

  • Substantial options scheme, so you can share in the growth you help create
  • Fantastic culture, fun and friendly team and great company social life
  • Beautiful Brixton office with rooftop terrace and incredible views
  • Apple Mac or laptop of choice, plus any hardware/software you need
