Job Description

Django developers

Senior & junior positions available

The digital team at Image Centre group is looking for experienced and talented Django developers for a range of in-house and external projects for web, mobile and tablet.

You’ll know Django to at least an intermediate level, and have a strong background in MVC development (.Net, CakePHP, Ruby on Rails, etc).

You’re adaptable and curious. You know HTML5 well, and you know why it matters. You like to hack, your gadget-fu is strong, you know how to be pragmatic but you’re never expedient. You’re excited by the possibilities of modern platforms and devices. You dream big and know when to roll up your sleeves. You appreciate design and usability. You like to learn new things. You love a challenge.

You’ll know when an API is RESTful and whether it matters. You’ll be familiar with CSS and JavaScript frameworks (we use SASS, Foundation and jQuery, among others). You’ll be keen to work with technologies like NoSQL, and geolocation. You have a need for speed.

Experience in Android or iOS or development would be an advantage; an interest is essential.

We’re the creative team at the heart of the Image Centre group of companies. Working in roomy digs near St Lukes, Image Centre is a multi-platform, visual communications company offering web and digital publishing, video production, digital signage, prepress and print, large-format printing, retail advertising and magazine publishing.

That means we get to work on a wide range of digital projects … from sites and apps for our co-conspirator companies, including magazines like Dish, NZ Rugby World and Idealog, and blogs like StopPress.co.nz; big-ticket projects for clients like the Auckland Rugby Union; strategic projects and brand development; and occasional pro-bono work for creative non-profits like goodbooks.com. You’ll be working with a talented team of artists, geeks, engineers and creatives.

We’re a cross-platform shop; we rely heavily on Django for content-centric sites and apps.

We’ll hire junior staff based on their potential, and senior staff based on their talent. We have a range of positions to fill, with salaries and conditions negotiable. First, show us that you’re good.
