Description: Performs design, development, troubleshooting, testing, and analysis of software programs for computer based systems.
Duties: Serve as a member of a team of software engineers developing modeling and simulation applications for the Department of Defense. These applications employ a wide variety of technologies and disciplines including: computer science, discrete event simulation, operations research, relational database, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, graphical user interface and data visualization. The software engineering process includes formal software configuration management, coding standards and peer reviews. Work independently, or under the direction of a Software Architect to formulate and define system scope and objectives; draft detailed recommended specifications for programs; and design, code, test, debug and document programs.
Qualifications: US Citizenship required; 2+ years of programming experience using Python, 2 years of experience in the design, development, troubleshooting, testing, and analysis of software programs for computer based systems; a working knowledge of current operating systems such as UNIX, LINUX, Windows 7/XP operating systems, and experience developing and/or modifying Graphical User Interfaces; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with a major in Engineering/Science/Computer Science/Mathematics. Experience in the design, development, troubleshooting, testing, and analysis of software programs for computer based systems and experience building graphical interfaces using Python.
